Software CDT Code Updates

The code on Dental Procedures and Nomenclature (CDT Code) is a set of standardized descriptions of dental procedures paired with a 5-character code. CDT Codes are a standard Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) code set, and the American Dental Association (ADA) releases annual updates for these codes. Carestream Dental software uses CDT Codes to provide a consistent description of the procedures performed at your office to insurers and other interested parties. CDT 2026 changes include: 31 new codes, 14 revised codes, and 6 code deletions.

Yes. Additional products are available for existing PracticeWorks customers to help optimize workflows, improve efficiency, and extend the value of your current system. These solutions are designed to work alongside PracticeWorks and support your practice’s operational needs.

PracticeWorks is not being replaced for existing users; however, Sensei Cloud is Sensei’s modern, cloud-based practice management platform designed for the future of dental practices. Sensei Cloud eliminates the need for on-site servers and offers greater flexibility, security, and scalability.

Many practices choose to transition from server-based systems like PracticeWorks to Sensei Cloud to reduce IT complexity, improve accessibility, and prepare for long-term growth. While there is no requirement to move, Sensei Cloud offers a modern alternative when your practice is ready.

Sensei Cloud is: Cloud-based (no local server required), accessible securely from anywhere, automatically updated and maintained, and designed to support modern, connected dental practices.

PracticeWorks, by contrast, is a server-based system that depends on local hardware and manual maintenance.
